Evangelism Tools

Pastors and Christian leaders throughout the United States have found that How to Share Your Faith is one of the most effective evangelism tools on the market for leading seekers to faith in Christ.

“It is often a long journey for someone to come to faith in Christ. But somewhere along the line, someone needs to show him to cross the line of faith.”
- Steve Gladen, Pastor of the Small Group Community, Saddleback Church

One of the things that makes this evangelism tool so effective is its simplicity. It is a diagram of John 3:16, the central passage in the Bible on the gospel. It is often referred to as the Bridge Diagram or the Bridge to Life. It is a very effective tool for personal evangelism. The believer is trained to clearly explain the gospel as he draws the diagram on a napkin or piece of paper. The believer then asks the seeker where he sees himself on the diagram and if he would like to receive Christ and cross over the bridge into a relationship with God.

If the seeker wants to cross over, the believer is trained to lead the seeker through a prayer to receive Christ in a natural and comfortable way. After that, the new believer learns what happened when he received Christ. The believer uses the acronym ESPN to explain what God has just done for the new believer. ESPN stands for: Eternal life, Sins forgiven, Personal relationship, Never leaves you. All of that happens the moment someone receives Christ.

If the seeker is not yet ready to receive Christ, the believer is trained to always honor the seeker and where he is on his spiritual journey. So the believer immediately takes the pressure off by saying something like, “That’s fine. This is between you and God. You can receive Christ on your own at any time. But let me share with you what happens when a person receives Christ.” He then explains ESPN, which refers to four of the wonderful things God does for any person who turns to Him. This is almost always new and helpful information for the seeker on the value of a relationship with Christ.

How to Share Your Faith evangelism tools includes these features:

  1. How to present the Bridge Diagram
  2. How to lead someone through a prayer to receive Christ
  3. How to respond in a positive way if someone is not yet ready to receive Christ
  4. How to deal with questions that may come up along the way.

If a church member has been trained in these four things, then he or she is not afraid to begin spiritual conversations with others, because, regardless of the direction the conversation goes, he is prepared to respond. These are some of the things that have made the How to Share Your Faith DVD training course one of the most effective evangelism tools for helping participants gain confidence in leading people to Christ.

Roll playing and repetition are also critical aspects for enabling How to Share Your Faith to become one of the effective evangelism methods. The training DVDs consist of four, one-hour training sessions. During each session, once the participants learn something new, the video stops automatically and the participants practice in pairs what they have just learned. This happens three times during each one-hour session. Before the course is over the participants have practiced some aspect of sharing their faith over twelve times. The end result is the participant comes away from the training with a high level of confidence on how to lead a seeker to Christ or respond in a positive way if he is not ready. Roll playing a repetition have been significant in raising the confidence level in participants.

Another thing that has enabled How to Share Your Faith to become effective in personal evangelism is focusing on identifying and guiding seekers who are open to God and in the red zone of their spiritual journey. Dr. Tucker provides evangelism resources for approaching this type of individual. It is essential for pastors and believers to avoid certain mistakes that may hinder a seeker from finding Christ. By incorporating these strategies, believers can effectively lead seekers who are in the “red zone” across the line of faith.

Dr. Tucker has been involved with full time ministry for more than 40 years as a senior pastor and associate pastor. He began training believers to lead people to Christ with Campus Crusade for Christ while attending University California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
