BIBLICAL BASIS FOR THE BRIDGE TO LIFE DIAGRAM

BRIDGE DIAGRAM
BIBLICAL BASIS
SENTENCE FORMAT
Bridge Diagram Us and God
I have loved you with an
everlasting love;
I have drawn you with
loving kindnesses
(Jeremiah 31:3).
God loves us and wants to have a
relationship
with us.
Bridge Diagram Separation
Your iniquities (sins) have made a separation between you and God (Isaiah 59:1-2).
All we like sheep have
gone astray, we have turned each one to his own way; but the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all (Isaiah 53:6).
However, we have
chosen to go our own independent way and our sins have caused a
separation
between us and God.
Bridge Diagram getting back to God
God…saved us. Not because of good works we have done, but because of his mercy
(Titus 3: 5-6).
Because by the works of the law, no one will be justified in God’s sight, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin (Romans 3:20).
Most of us are aware of this separation,
and we try to do
good works
to get back to God.
Bridge Diagram falling short of God
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God
(Romans 3:23).
But we all sin and
fall short.
Bridge Diagram sins lead to death
The wages of [penalty for] sin is death (Romans 6:23).
It is appointed for men to
die once; then after that to face judgment
(Hebrews 9:27).
The Bible says the
penalty for our sins is death
(spiritual separation
from God).
Bridge Diagram bridge to God
For Christ died for sins once for all…, in order that He might bring us to God
(1 Peter 3:18).
But God did for us
what we could not
do for ourselves.
He provided a
bridge
to help us get back to God.
Bridge Diagram Jesus died for our sins
God proved his love for us
in that while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us
(Romans 5:8).
Christ died for our sins ... (and) was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures
(1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
When Jesus Christ died on the cross, he
paid
the penalty for our sins ... and rose again on the third day.
Bridge Diagram receiving christ
As many as received Him…, to them He gave the right to become children of God
(John 1:12).
But it is not enough just to know this. To cross over the bridge we need to
receive
Christ by asking Him to forgive us and to come into our lives.
Bridge Diagram receiving Christ
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me
(Revelation 3:20 NIV).
Does this make sense to you? Based on this
diagram, where are you in your relationship with
Christ? Would you like to receive Christ and cross over to the other side?
